Is RonBandUp ready to lead the RVA Drill Rap Scene?

RonBandUp’s repping Richmond, VA, straight from the Jackson Ward area and its Gilpin Court project. He’s a rapper tied to the WARDBOYZ movement, running alongside names like Rioo and Traptize Ky—who are both currently locked up. Ron’s out here keeping the flame alive, dropping tracks that hit with that street edge.

RonBandUp caught a wave when he appeared on Brandon Buckingham’s YouTube channel in a video that’s pulled over a million views by early 2025. Shot in Richmond, it put his life and sound on blast for a wider audience. His cuts like “FreeDaGuys” and “Most Active” are live on Apple Music and SoundCloud, backed by beats from LuhGroovy and visuals from JWMotionPictures.  

TrussBandUp and “FreeDemSainters  

His mixtape TrussBandUp is out, a raw slice of his world—unfiltered and tied to Gilpin Court. The track “FreeDemSainters” bangs hardest, shouting out incarcerated homies like Rioo and Traptize Ky, pushing for their freedom. It’s a real-deal statement, streamable anywhere you look.

He popped up in The Clear Redline, a 2025 doc by Myles Black about Richmond’s redlining past, walking Gilpin Court on screen.
